Why Health and Human Services?

We feel a strong responsibility to the Washington, D.C. region where we are located and the Nashua, NH area where one of our founders was raised. We believe it is vital to the region that residents have access to effective safety-net services, including sufficient food, shelter, and whole-person healthcare, as well as opportunities for sustainable, living-wage employment. Accordingly, we invest in organizations that provide pathways for our most vulnerable populations to develop essential life skills, access physical and mental health support, and achieve economic mobility.

There are times in life when you need to stand up and ask not ‘what are they going to do about it?’ but rather, ‘what am I going to do about it?’ A nutritious meal and access to housing and health care is important to everyone’s well-being. Without these things, you cannot work–or frankly, get much of anything done–and I am lucky to be able to help.”

We strongly believe in relationship-based philanthropy rooted in long-term grantee partnerships. Before we fund, we invest substantial time in understanding a potential grantee’s needs and strategic vision and how it aligns with our vision and priorities.
